The simple version
- You can play offline without a game account.
- Your progress and reminder preferences stay on your device.
- The full browser game currently has no ads, purchases, login or cloud sync.
- Android purchases use Google Play and a secure purchase-checking service.
- Where ads are enabled, they use child-directed settings rather than personalised targeting.
- Need help? Ask a grown-up to contact us if you are a child.
For questions about Nudge Out or the information described in this policy, contact greaterthanjason@gmail.com.
This policy covers the Nudge Out Android game, the full browser game at play.nudgeout.app, and the website and three-puzzle sampler at nudgeout.app. Features such as purchases, advertising and reminders may vary by platform or version. The game does not require a player account or use an account-based cloud-save service.
Your game and device
The game stores progress, stars, achievements, cosmetic choices, settings, tutorial history and unfinished games locally so you can continue playing. Generated puzzles are created on your device. No player account is required, and we do not receive your moves or saved progress through a game-operated cloud service.
The installed mobile game is designed to work offline. The full browser game can work offline after its files have downloaded successfully while online, where your browser supports local storage and offline caching.
The game does not request your name, date of birth, location, contacts, camera or microphone. Optional vibration provides move feedback. If you choose Copy result, a short puzzle result is placed on the clipboard; the game does not publish or send it for you.
Your operating system may back up or transfer app data according to your device settings. This is separate from any game-operated account or cloud-save service. The website's three-puzzle sampler is separate from your game save and does not save progress.
The full browser game
At play.nudgeout.app, progress, settings, tutorial history and unfinished games are stored in your browser on your device. These saves are separate from Android app progress and from the sampler on nudgeout.app. There is no login, cloud sync or game-operated cloud backup.
The browser game uses a service worker to cache its game files locally for offline play and updates. Cached game files are separate from your saved progress. You need an online visit to download the files before playing offline; browser support, storage limits and clearing cached data can affect offline availability.
Clearing site data for play.nudgeout.app, using a browser setting that removes stored data, or losing access to that browser profile can permanently erase your browser save. Private browsing may remove it when the session ends. We cannot recover a save held only in your browser. A new browser, device or the Android app does not automatically receive that progress.
Advertising and purchases are not enabled in the current browser game. It does not load an advertising SDK, contact the Android purchase-checking service or use a gameplay analytics service. The Android purchase and advertising sections below describe the mobile app, not current browser-game processing. If web advertising or purchases are introduced, we will update this policy before enabling them.
The sampler's optional sharing controls can open your device's share sheet or show a link and result text for you to copy. Sharing begins only when you choose to use these controls; the website does not automatically publish your result.
Optional Daily nudges
Daily nudges are off by default. If you enable them in Settings, the game asks for your phone's notification permission and schedules a playful reminder at approximately your chosen local time. Delivery may vary with your phone's battery and notification settings.
Your chosen time, whether reminders are enabled, and the local date you last played are stored only on your device. Playing skips that day's reminder. The game schedules up to four weeks ahead and refreshes the schedule when you return, so reminders stop after four weeks away. There is no remote push-notification service, push token, email subscription or notification tracking.
You can change the time or switch Daily nudges off in game Settings, or manage notification permission in your phone's settings. Tapping a reminder opens the Daily puzzle panel.
Website delivery
Cloudflare hosts nudgeout.app and play.nudgeout.app. Delivering and protecting these sites involves processing connection information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, request times and browser information. We have not added advertising trackers, behavioural analytics or marketing forms. Website fonts and artwork are served with the site.
Hosting and security information is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy and applicable service arrangements. We do not maintain a separate player-level website activity database. Hosting providers retain operational information according to their purposes and policies.
When you contact us
We receive the email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Please include only what is needed to explain the problem, and avoid sending passwords, payment details or personal information about children.
Support email is routed through Cloudflare to our Google-hosted mailbox. We use it to answer your enquiry, investigate issues and handle privacy requests. Ordinary enquiries are deleted within 12 months after resolution; relevant records may be retained longer where needed for legal obligations or disputes. See Google's privacy policy for its services.
Children
Nudge Out is intended for a broad audience, including children. The game does not ask children to create a game account or submit personal information to play. We do not use gameplay profiling or personalised advertising. A parent or guardian should manage store purchases and can contact us about privacy or an enquiry sent by their child. If we learn that a child has sent unnecessary personal information, we will remove it.
Android Support Pack and purchases
Where available, the Support Pack is an optional one-time purchase that removes ads and adds cosmetic benefits. The game may connect to Google Play to retrieve product details, a localised price and existing purchases. Buying the pack is optional and is not required to play the puzzles.
Google handles the store account and payment interface. Nudge Out does not receive your Google password or full card details. To verify, restore or check a purchase, the game sends the product identifier, a Google purchase token and a one-use request value over an encrypted connection to our purchase-checking service hosted by Cloudflare. That service checks the purchase with Google and returns a signed ownership record. These requests also involve connection information such as your IP address and request time.
The service stores a one-way hash of the purchase token, product identifier, ownership or pending/cancellation status, acknowledgement status and checking timestamps. It does not store your raw purchase token, email address, game moves or progress in its purchase database. The game stores the token and signed record locally for restoration and offline access to a previously verified Support Pack; purchase records are excluded from the app's ordinary Android backup rules.
We retain purchase records for ongoing ownership, restoration, refund handling and fraud prevention, and where needed for legal obligations or disputes. They do not expire merely because you stop playing. You can contact us to request deletion of records that are no longer needed; deleting local data alone does not delete Google's records or our purchase-verification records. Google handles its store records under Google's privacy policy.
Android advertising
If advertising is enabled in your Android version, Nudge Out uses Google AdMob for occasional ads between completed campaign levels. Ads are not required to continue an offline game. A verified Support Pack removes ads. Ad frequency is limited using locally stored counts of completed levels, active play time and ad impressions.
Our ad integration uses child-directed treatment, a G content-rating limit and disabled personalisation. Android advertising-ID and advertising-services permissions are removed, and publisher first-party identifiers are disabled. We do not supply your name, email address or puzzle moves for ad targeting. These protections do not mean an ad service receives no data.
When the ad service is used, Google and its service providers may process IP addresses, ad interactions, diagnostic information and device or account identifiers permitted by the configuration to deliver ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud. An IP address can indicate an approximate location; the game does not request precise location permission. Connections to Google's ad service are encrypted. See Google's SDK data disclosure and Google's privacy policy for provider practices and retention. We have not added a separate gameplay analytics service.
Why we use information and who receives it
We use information to provide the features you request, including purchase verification and restoration; to pursue legitimate interests in securing our services, preventing fraud and answering enquiries; and where required by law. Optional reminder preferences are used only to schedule reminders on your device. We limit information to these purposes, with particular care for children. We do not sell personal information or use it to build advertising profiles.
Google and Cloudflare process information to provide the store, purchase verification, hosting and email services described above. They may process it outside your country, including in the United States; their policies describe international processing and safeguards. We may disclose relevant information if required by law or necessary to address a legal claim. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about players.
Deleting data and your rights
Local game data remains until removed or replaced on your device. You can clear the site's stored data in your browser or the app's storage in Android settings. Uninstalling may also remove progress. Manage any operating-system backups separately. These actions can permanently erase progress because there is no game-operated cloud backup.
You can contact greaterthanjason@gmail.com to ask about information we hold, request access, correction or deletion, or raise an objection. Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, rights to restrict processing and data portability may also apply. We may need proportionate information to verify a request; we cannot identify or remotely delete a game save held only on your device.
You can raise a concern with us and complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office or your local data-protection authority. We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date.
